Luke 1:26-38

TBQ: Why shouldn’t you be afraid?

  1. The Lord is with you.
    • You are not alone.
      • The encouragement given to Mary is not unique in the Bible. In Judges 6, as the Israelites experienced oppression under Midian, God raised up Gideon to deliver his people. Gideon was by no means excited about the situation, he was fearful and tried to get out of it. But, God’s angel brought these words to Gideon, “The Lord is with you.”
  2. You are favored by the Lord.
    • Access to the gospel is a sign of God’s blessing in your life.
    • Salvation is proof of God’s love toward you.
      • Ephesians 1:13-14, the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of your inheritance until you gain possession of it.
  3. The Son has been born.
    • Jesus is the King who will reign forever.
    • Jesus is the King you can trust with your future.
