P22 is a new effort to raise up and send men to who can preach, disciple, and lead for the good of the local church and beyond. P22 is an effort undertaken by Malvern Hill Baptist church and is driven by Paul’s words to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2 to “entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
We have identified five primary goals through P22:
- Identify: Look for and call out faithful, teachable men who can lead God’s people.
- Form: Shape men through preaching, discipleship, and intentional training.
- Prove: Test the character of these men by serving along side them and giving them opportunities in local churches.
- Deploy: Much of what is needed to lead in the local church is best learned by doing. We will give real responsibility to men involved in P22 to help them grow and to serve local churches.
- Send: By God’s grace, we hope to send many of these men out into our local community and beyond to preach the good news.
P22 is not solely a Malvern Hill project, rather it is born out of a realization that we do not have access to enough men to lead in churches across our community and beyond. As we wrestle with this realization, we can complain about the problem or be part of the solution. We have chosen to be part of the solution. P22 launched in earnest this fall with our first seminar, Preaching 101. We hope to make these trainings of a high quality and widely available to a broad audience of men regardless of current responsibilities or educational background.
